True Romance in Golden Gate Park

Call us softies, but we’re mush for love scenes involving a lake and a rowboat (hello, Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in The Notebook).

A major face-lift at beloved Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park is the equivalent of movie magic.

The idyllic man-made lake and soon-to-be spruced-up boathouse, originally constructed in 1893, bring ballad-worthy romance within city limits. A new fleet of paddleboats, electric boats, and rowboats mean smooth sailing.

Also on deck? A revamped cafe (from Fish & Farm alums) opening later this year. For now, sample delights (hot dogs, piroshki, veggie spring rolls, seasonal vegan soup) from Let’s Be Frank, American Box, and La Cocina.
